First Grounding

Long and boring, proceed with coffee

Yes, I had to do it. I had to ground Lean, for the very first time. I feel like a heel but I must follow through. She can't play with her friends ALL DAY LONG.

What was her heinous crime you ask? Succumbing to the "Christy Murphy" effect. You know the kid who smoothly got you to do something you shouldn't, escaping correction because she didn't actually do the alleged crime herself- she just convinced you to do it. UH--HUH "Christy Murphy", more on her powers of persuation later.

So Lean's "Christy Murphy" and another friend were over yesterday to play. I figure they will be okay without me hovering over their every move. Plus one of the girl's Dads was out next door mowing his acreage.

I foolishly watched some hidden camera type show that wasn't-- even-- funny. Poor judgement, I know. Lean comes in soaking wet. I say,"what's going on?" She say's "we played in the water". Fully clothed, without permission. She did this once before and "Christy Murphy" was sent home. Of course I go see if they are all wet. They are. Plus they have scattered wheat (I'm a farmer's daughter- more on that later) all over the garage and then watered it. I had already told her to leave the wheat alone. Don't mess with my wheat people, I mean children!

My mouth hangs open, "Christy Murphy" perks up and proudly says "I told her to do it!" I send the girls home and cram Lean in the tub. She's crying and miserable then I realize-DUH!, its the "Christy Murphy" effect. Yep, she was smoozed into mis behaviour. So I smoozed her into feeling better.

Don't get me wrong, I know she did some things she knew were wrong, she's no angel. But man-oh-man I know how you can be easily led astray like that. My little lamb's getting out in the world. Lucky for her I already battled the "Christy Murphy" effect. I'll help her learn too.

Poor Lean. You mean jean, you! Man, kids don't even realize how much it hurts us to punish them. But as the adults (are we really)we have to correct them - it's for their own good, right? O heck no, sometimes it just feels good to punish the little buggers! (not really)
About the Tussie Mussie swap - it can be no smaller than a party hat. So I have to go find one in order to make my swap tussie. Then trying to think of what to fill it with for this partner...I'm pretty much at a loss. Did you read her blog? No help from that! Got any suggestions? I'm just going to put random things in it and that's going to have to be good enough, because I don't have a clue as to what this person likes. Oh, well, I'm not going to think about that today - I'll think about it tomorrow. Today I finished all the wedding tussies, now I have to fill them with bath salts that I still have to make. Wow, I've just written you another book. Better go now.

Me again! I wrote to Christy at BonBonBoutique about joining her Good Mail club. She gave me an invite and when I went on the blog, there were pics of all the gals. Now, is the one with short reddish brown hair and glasses you?
I'm going to be sending her my info to sign me up as soon as I get done with all this shower stuff. Gotta get movin' on that, too, cause it's a week from this Saturday.
Bye-bye, :) Brenda

I'm so glad it was only wheat and not your corn stash, jean knee. There's nothing in this world that I hate more than Children Of The Corn.

By the way, you do know where your sickle is, right?

Uh, what is a tussie mussie?

I'm listening to EWL's playlist right now. "It was acceptable in the 80s... it was acceptable at the time...."

I'm glad you're the kind of mom who follows through with punishments. Kids need that. I always noticed when my mom didn't.

a tussie mussie is a victorian cone that is decorated and filled with flowers or favors

OK, that explains why I've never heard of it. Crafty stuff and I parted ways long ago.

I didn't know we were supposed to feel guilty when we punished our kids... hmm... sometimes I put all the kids on their bed as punishment and then take a nap. That's not okay? ;)

it wasn't all guilt, I also wanted to blame some one else-"Christy Murphy"

Stupid Christy Murphy! Kids like that always get the good kids in trouble...I speak from experience.

Good for you for nippin' that in the bud. I was a complete sheep growing up, so easily led. Being a good kid has it's disadvantages.
