Birthday

Six years ago today my little Lean was born. Six weeks early, at 3:51 a.m.

The day of my baby shower.

The long awaited, and much prayed for baby of older parents. The tiniest baby I had ever seen.

The happiest day I have ever had on this earth. My little Lean.

I wrote this haiku for her when she was three:

The brush of her hair
Soft, spun gold against my cheek
Caresses my soul

Guns N' Roses wrote this song about her fourteen years before she was even born:

She's got a smile that it seems to me
Reminds me of childhood memories
Where everything
Was as fresh as the bright blue sky
Now and then when I see her face
She takes me away to that special place
And if I stared too long
I'd probably break down and cry

Oh, Oh, Oh
Sweet child o' mine
Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh
Sweet love of mine

She's got eyes of the bluest skies
As if they thought of rain
I hate to look into those eyes
And see an ounce of pain
Her hair reminds me of a warm safe place
Where as a child I'd hide
And pray for the thunder
And the rain
To quietly pass me by

Oh, Oh, Oh
Sweet child o' mine
Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh
Sweet love of mine

Oh, Oh, Oh yea
Oh, Oh, Oh
Sweet child o' mine
Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh
Sweet love of mine

Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh
Sweet child o' mine
Oh,
Sweet love of mine

Happy birthday, baby.

Haiku writing, I'm impressed. I am also impressed that Guns & Roses foreshadowed such a lovely gift for your little Lean. Happy birthday to her!!! I'm curious--did you make cupcakes for the class today?! Or are those not allowed through the fortress walls?

tori: happy birthday Taj, we let Lean eat a chocolate chip muffin for breakfast ( it contained massive amounts of artificial stuff)

bee- naw i made her go. her teacher's cool and does birthday's in a bigg way

Lisa- as a matter of fact cup cakes are not allowed because of potential frosting mishaps, so I'm taking doughnuts- Lean wants them with sprinkles so I'm frosting them, then hiding that bad frosting with massive sprinkles- I'm a rebel baby!
