Halloween: The ONLY Holiday You'll Ever Have To Celebrate

I'm a bit disappointed in the dud-like Halloween response I have received so far.
We need to pump things up a notch. I love Halloween, and before this is over you will too. How much do I love Halloween? So much I even wrote a Halloween party book, and I have the rejection letters to prove it! Woot woot!

Halloween has it all baby. What other time of the year do you get to combine so many kewwl things? First off, it's all about candy. Give me candy or I'll bust out your head light. Here it is in capital letters: CANDY. Nuff said

Second, you get to dress up ANY way you choose. Always wanted to have eyeballs stuck to your face? Do it now, it's Halloween. Always wanted to be Gumby's sidekick Pokey? Do it now. Ever wanted to be half woman half man? Do it now. Pretzel? Do it.
Joan Crawford? Do it. A buzzy bee? Do it. Kitty cat? Do it. Death's twin sister? Do it. Sportacus? Do it. Yes I have dressed like each of those things, thanks for asking.

here's a couple of last year's dress ups

<

First picture shows Lean and I dressed as "Copy Cats" Sweet little kitties with matching jeweled collars. I always wanted to dress alike with Lean so I grabbed the chance. We wore these to a Halloween party where Lean Ruined hers in the sand. Mine made me itch.

Second picture shows Lean dressed as Wendy the builder, I am dressed as "The old Year" (I carried a champagne glass and held a mask on a stick). We wore these trick or treating.

Which shows the real us? I'm not sure, but I do know this: I loved how no one could tell my gender under that shroud like cape thing. Parents kept grabbing their kids away from me and scowling when they saw little Wendy. They thought she was cute and sweet till she lunged her power drill at them. Now that is what we call fun. You can keep those kitties.

I'm sorry I'm not more into Halloween... I will try harder to... um... do something.

that's the spirit girl!! you can always make something up, or, better yet copy something off a different blog and say it was yours (my favorite cure for writer's block)

If I dress up, will you be my friend?

My mom had my little brother a couple days before Halloween and then had to rush to pull a costume together for me for a last minute neighborhood party. I ended up wrapped up in gauze like a mummy with a devil horn hat and groucho marx glasses.

What does it all mean? I don't know. I just like to tell random strangers weird stories from my childhood.

WEENIES!

Too bad you didn't have more daughters, you could have gone as Josie And The Pussycats.

E-mail me about the swap thing discussed on Bee's blog. I want to know who doesn't love jean knee!

Just not into it- I have actually handed out candy, and had little sh*ts tell me they don't like what I gave them! It's not like I hand out raisins! I make sure the first ingredient is SUGAR!

First lets giggle at "Gumby's sidekick Pokey".
Okay let's move on.

I haven't decided what I'll be yet and usually I throw a big Hallowbash but this year the kids haven't been good enough for my awesomeness...

I've been, an evil clown (seriously), Vampire (slutty, what other kind is there), my brother Dan's evil twin, WITCH!, farmer and an annoyed co-worker.

kimberly- shut up, I'm already your friend

elastic- I like that sort of costume, it means your mom wanted you to have fun on halloween but since she just squeezed out a kid there was no time to buy a princess sparkle pumpkin;
thank you Freud, yes that was only a cigar. that will be $2oo.oo please

Jean Knee said...

Toni- give it another try, my kid gets excited if she gets to eat a spoonful of koolaid, there are probably others like her

Surely you are NOT talking to me?!

I have already hung some stuff at the office, cause they had nothing. Hubs and I will be putting up the many things we have. Hubs like to buy new stuff each year. We are saving to build a home so I think he might hold off, but we certainly won't lack for deco.

Happy halloween *hear that in my best witchy sounding voice* aka my most common costume. The day I can really be ME!

The Horror, The Horror!!!

I ignorantly spoke too soon.
You are lovers of Halloween.

You could dress up like that any time of the year - why wait till October? I've a feeling that if I went to work tomorrow dressed as Spartacus no-one would bat an eyelid ;-)

I think you're all victims of cynical commercialism. Do the halloween costume makers have a basement? If so, I think it's time for a re-enactment of the Gunpowder Plot, this time a successful one.

BANG!

jean knee!!
I don't like my word!
Can I change it to something else? But what?

uh...

*SLAPPED*

Jean Knee said...

Brian- sorry you may be thinking of spartacus, that Roman antarchist or something, when no, I meant Sportacus from Lazy Town.

I am my own costume maker and, yes I do it cynically, however I don't have a basement nor do I know what you are talking about but bee will google it for me and then I'll have a snappy little come back, or not

Jean Knee said...

bee: I love your word, don't change it, google that thing Brian said so I don't look ignorant

I am only here because of Elastic. Do you truly love Halloween? 'cause I do, too. Um, pleased to meet you, jean knee. (I have something like a halloween counter on my blog to. Something like, anyway. I'm celebrating Halloween over there!)

I LOVE Halloween!! I really, really do!! I wish we had more decorations. I'm so cheap...
Maybe this year I will let the kids makes spiders out of styrofoam balls and pipe cleaner. I used to be tradition... and then I got old and boring.
Thanks for getting me all excited again!!!!!! Maybe I'll just stick polka dots all over myself and say "I'm Jean Knee."

No Cool Story said...

For years and years we didn’t do Halloween at my house.
Being non-denominational Christians we were told it was a holiday for the D3vil, so my kids never ever went trick-or-treating (we did do trunk-or-treat once and participated in our church’s Harvest Festival once).
One year DH and I were out of town, my Sis-in-law was in town visiting and took my kids (with my hesitant permission) trick-or-treating.
When we got back from our trip the kids showed me the remnants of their loot: OMGOSH!!! There was SO much candy and chocolates, and they had such a fun time. So I lifted my ban on Halloween, and we have so much fun since then.
I love Halloween, it is super fun and candyful holiday.

The End.

Jean Knee said...

bee- what? what green goop? have you been messing with the white stuff again- yeah, uh I mean the nutrasweet

Jean Knee-I do love Halloween, I am having parties...I have decorations...I have my own hand made Pin the bone on the skeleton. We have skeleton goblets. I have Halloween decorations out already. There is a witch sitting in my family room. She's awesome. I buy lots and lots of candy and give out lots and lots of candy. :)I'm not that handy with the costume making, but I have gone as something for halloween that I am sure no one else has even thought of, but it is in poor taste..and it's not nice-I was an easily influenced teen.

I enjoy reading your blog!

I love Halloween because I can raid my kid's stash o' goodies.

Am I supposed to say weenie now? I'm just not cool enough I guess.

Jean Knee said...

NB'sM-yes I would tie Norman up and stash him in a dark closet with scurrying rats. It's a mother's job to keep her son safe, and the rats can be friends to little Willard,,uh I mean Norman

Jean Knee said...

Lisa- you must post pictures, lots of pictures (does your hub read this cause he might not like your nickname for his mom..you know the one sitting in the family room)

Jean Knee said...

I can post pictures of the witch...and my hubby doesn't even read my blog. There is no evidence of my teen costume-only memories. And the witch is stuffed. Remember, I said she was AWESOME.

Jean Knee said...

Lisa- yes I was an easily influenced teen once also--ahh the memories, wait you meant costume, scratch that.

I haven't gotten any decorations out yet, don't tell anyone
