Nature Lover

Sweet nature, oh how we love yee. Yes it surrounds us here in semi-rural Texas. We need go no further than our porch to luxuriate in a little bit of nature luvin.
From buzzing wasps in the eaves,

to hop toads in the dog food, around every corner is a new delight.

Spiders clog our drains, but hey they eat scorpians so we gotta leave them there

our flower garden growing bright, and how about that prize winning tomato plant (I am a farmer's daughter you know...I've got the wheat to prove it)

The barn swallows are my favorite. This is our second batch this year. Larry, Moe ,Curly, and Shemp. I love seeing my swallows darting all around, gobbling up skeeters, doing loop-da-loops in the air. I love my barn swallows best, and they love me best too, here's the proof:

Just look at what they left for me this morning.

And to think I was grumpy over one silly wasp's nest. Oi!

Wait.
The spiders eat the scorpions.
Uh huh.

We had black widow spiders at one house and our neighbor told us that we should be glad because they eat the hobo spiders. Yeah. Where is the "no poisonous spider" option?

I'm more scared of a hive of female W.A.S.P's.

We have sugar ants coming into our house and I found moth larvae in a spaghetti noodle package at Krogers. I don't want you to think that you won the Bounteous Bug Booty Prize up there in North Texas.

Well, well, well August 3rd has arrived. I've decided to give in to your little extortion ploy. Expect payment to be made in small, unmarked toilet paper tubes.

This is my advice to you: Plant some seeds in the bird crap and water it every so often, and maybe someday you'll have bird-crap-fertilized flowers. Then you can pick them and take them to someone you love (or don't).

Yeah, TX is notorious for, um, "new life" this time of year. Lol.

The cricket infestation has begun here. Yay... love to see them jumping out of the apple crates at my grocer's.

Wow! Those toads would scare me....anything that jumps scares me....ie..Grass hoppers.

kimber- we have four wasp nests in four convenient sizes.

ncs- we have scorpian eating spiders around these here parts

Mel- so far our spiders are all toxin free

elastic-yeah you gotta avoid those wasps or before you know it you'll be wearing twin sets and driving an SUV, and saying dang

crap- don't worry, be crappy (how ya like that catchy, err vomity word play?) this is the second time in two days I've had my extortion ploys go my way ( Melissa with the frog was the other one but that is our little secret for now)I will be eagerly awaiting the first tube

Millie- you think I could sell the totally organically grown flowers at Walmart?

Lei- you need to get you a cricket eating dalmatian and its bye bye crickets- the cricket breath is a bit unpleasant however

m2p- nah those toads are small and they don't jump very scary like, grasshoppers are way scarier

I'm glad we don't have scorpians in Houston because I don't think I could cohabitate with spiders. :(

Ijole! I don't like wasps. They hurt me. And I don't like spiders, but scorpians are scary. I remember catching/killing a few in my home in Texas. Eek!
Thank you for the rad good mail!!

Where are the roaches? And why are you hiding them?

Jean Knee said...

the roaches are in the ash tray, errra I mean the mailbox

ShabbyInTheCity said...

Ha! You even put a polka dot on that spider!

elasticwaistbandlady said...

I bet you hide roaches in your grass...don't you?!!??

Or would that be grass in your roaches? I'm so confused.

Ah, we have ants. I'd take spiders anyday. AT least they don't congregate.

We just got rid of a wasp hive under our deck. Then today, 5 more wasps have started another hive. Bye-bye wasps!
