Don't Read This If Your Gag Reflex Is Intact

I know that in this stifled economy many of you are coming up with intriguing ways to save money. I love those penny pincher tips from the Tightwad Gazette.

Drew jumped right on the "let's make our money go farther" bandwagon this past week and did the grocery shopping at Walmart. Our bill was indeed lower, fabulous.

I decided to make spaghetti for our first thrifty meal. It's fast, easy, and everyone likes it. I browned the Walmart pure beef ground meat in a gently simmering skillet. I tried to break it apart and stir it around but it wasn't breaking or stirring at all. It retained its same shape straight out of the grinder, your know that long worm like shape. eww
It looked downright disgusting but being the money saving housewifely type, I covered it with spaghetti sauce and served it. It tasted okay but when you are slurping up strands of spaghetti you don't want to have to slurp up strands of meat too.

Here's what it looked like.

I wouldn't recommend Walmart ground beef as part of your money (grubbing) saving plan. They are still the number one place for your ' cheap plastic crap from China ' needs.

Maybe you can use this stuff for crafting - it certainly doesn't look edible. I bet it's one of those inventions that's a spin off of the space programme...

Am I seeing double or is Dan just a dumbass? Anybody?

Anyway, I dislike ground beef with an intensity I only reserve for litterbugs. ::blech!::

I already bought some of this a while back in my effort to be thrifty. Now I'm wishing I would have warned you! I too was completely disgusted and will never venture in Walmart's meat dept. again!

There are just some things you don't want to do to save a buck or two. Kewl! I rhymed:)

Fake meat? At Wal-Mart?

NO WAY

I never shop there for food if I can help it. That place is expensive. Yeah, you heard me. Everything costs more there than at my regular grocery store.

I think this comes from one of those agri-hybrid thingies from Texas A&M. They crossed a worm with a cow to give people more protein in their beef.

What the crap do they do to that meat? What kind of meat do you suppose it is anyway?

Hubby must read this post. He blames our Wal-mart meat dinner fiascos on my cooking. Ha..I'll show him!
