Coffee Coffee Coffee

Can you smell it? Mmm mmmmmmmmmm Can you hear it dripping into the pot? pitter pat slosh slog pat pitpittt Do you want some? Me too. There is nothing better than a hot, fresh delicious cup of coffee to start your day. We have a timer on our coffee maker 4000 so it is brewed and ready when we rise in the a.m.

Simple pleasures like this make life sparkle. I start my morning with sparkle and simple coffee pleasure every single day.

Except today. No coffee. No sparkle.. No simple pleasure for me. I need a moment.............................................................................................................................................................................................................

My fun squashing health minded physician Dr. Grim has made coffee forbidden.

Again Johnny,....FORBIDDEN!!!!!!!!!

I may not make it through this day, but I leave you with these delightful images.

  1. I hope you make it Jean Knee: Who will take Mr. CDD's pictures if you're gone?

    :(

  2. You can do it Jean Knee!! Just don't brew a cup for Mr. CDD... he will only taunt you with it.

  3. You can get a substitute - nut based - can't remember the name. It's not the same at all, but if you start having a cup of that every morning, or any time anyone else in the house has coffee, you'll soon lose any desire for the real thing too...

Are all you're gadgets 4000s? It that some kind of brand name?

Anyway, I just hope that the doctor's orders work.

  4. I'm feeling crabby and I have a slight ringing in my ears. and my head aches ever so throbbingly

    is this normal?

  5. Can coffee "deprivation" really do that??? I like coffee, but I think people exaggerate the "benefits" of it - I bet they're mainly psychological.

You need to think about something else - oops, too late ;-)

    And drink lots of water...

  6. Heavens to Betsy! What prompted your doc to do that?

I love the smell of coffee. It reminds me of my grandparents' house (the not-Mormon ones).

  7. Sounds like a coffee headache to me. But then, what do I know...

    I suggest bed and Advil.

  8. NO!!! NO!!! NO JEAN KNEE GO BACK TO THE DARK SIDE, OR SHOULD I SAY COME BACK CUZ IT'S DARK WHERE I AM!!??
I too was once one of the unlucky ones and wrote an Ode to Coffee. I showed it to Brian but he said it reminded him of a toilet bowl... porque??

    Ode to Coffee

Imagine the sound of a motor being started
The noise of grinding hard objects to dust
    The gurgle and drip
    The steam rising
    The aroma attacking your senses
    You smell it
    You taste it
    You feel it
The dark brown liquid filling the glass container
    The sound of pouring
Adjusting the dark color to hazel
Adding the fine white grains to make it less bitter
The sound of metal against porcelain
    The shaking hand reaching
    The porcelain ascending to lips…

    I'm lost in paradise!

  13. don't be rediculous Bee it did not remind me of a toilet bowl, Brian's mind's just in the gutter.

we have to do something to him cuz he says my crabby headache thing is psychological.

I know you are a poet, you know I am suffering

  15. Ask him to stop his booze intake and see what happens to his mind. Speaking of I'm gonna have me a Mike-arita!

    ReplyDelete
  16. NCS- cokes have caffeine in em too but Drew, that fabulous man, not a rodent, is bringing me a caffeine free diet coke. yes it will be completely chemical except the water.mmmmmmmmm

Guess what else!!! The donkey friends have a new little donkey baby!!! It is the cutest little thing ever. He almost let Lean pet him but he's still scared so maybe next time. He is a dark reddish brown. I think two of the other donkeys are pregnant too. One I confirmed today is definitely a man, baby! Next time I think about it I'll get a pic

    ReplyDelete
  17. what's a Mike-arita?

I prolly can't have one of those either

I have noticed Brian is usually drunk. I just didn't want to be the one to say it first. I'm shy like that.

Now this is weird, someone just crank called me

  18. It's a Margarita made by Mike's Hard lemonade people. It is sooo yummy! I wouldn't mind being half in the bag all the time if I'm drinking that. kidding just kidding.

    ReplyDelete
  19. see, I'm so innocent I don't even know what half in the bag is..........is it obscene?

  20. One learns so much here at Jean Knee's with special guest bee.
Picture of the baby donkey coming soon? (see? Not all is lost!)

Bee: It doesn't remind me of a toilet bowl at all.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Ha! The problems is that I have nothing but bad things to show people... or is that a good thing?

    ReplyDelete
  22. My parents are what you might call "converts." So what does that make me?

One set of grandparents also became Mormons, but they took longer than the rest of us so I remember their house smelling like coffee too. After they were baptized it smelled like Postum instead. There was also some Pero action happening.

I don't think it's possible to OD on Advil. Bri takes six at once sometimes if he feels a headache coming on.

  23. Never fear-- I'm brewing up some pots of steaming hot arugula juice for you to enjoy, jean knee!

    ReplyDelete
  24. If we had all behaved ourselves on the Willy Wonka factory tour he would have given you a nice little pill with all the taste and pleasures of coffee encapsulated within it. But no, you just had to go and lick the freakin wallpaper and drink floating gassy stuff, didn't you?!!!??

The oompa loompas are mocking you and your caffeine dependency.

  25. I was the one drinking from the chocolate river. Ooops. My bad.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Jean Knee:
    Are you ok?
I know you are going to be ok. Hang in there.

    Hang ON there?
    Up there?

    ReplyDelete
  27. Drunk? Of course I'm drunk! You don't think I'd post comments sober?

    ReplyDelete
  28. It's a negative association thing. If the last line of Bee's poem makes you think of toilet bowls you'll lose your coffee craving.

I suppose I should stop reminding you.

    I won't say "coffee" again. I'm sorry.

I just had some as well (coffee, that is).

  29. I want to get this shirt for Mr. Cock A Doodle for Christmas. What color would he prefer?

    ReplyDelete
  30. I love the dang smell of coffee. It tempts me. It taunts me. It calls to me to the point of pain...but have I tasted it? Nope.

    I feel sad for you!

    ReplyDelete
  31. okay I had to lie in bed for several hours feeling like my head would split off, but I am better now.

    wheww, close one

    ReplyDelete
  32. arugula, I think they laced that wall paper with LSD.
for real after I licked it I kept seeing these evil orange mini devils singing all over

plus, that chocolate river was full, full, full of caffeine

    ReplyDelete
  33. Millie- really? good cuz I normally take 4 and if it's horrible 6. glad I'm not gonna die.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Brian: I re-read Bees lovely poem and yes If you read only the last portion it seems to be describing someone with drug withdrawal being sick.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Elastic- he wants that friuty blue but I say brown

    ReplyDelete
  36. Lauren- it actually smells yummier than it is. I have a coffee bean candle mmmmm

    stay far away from it

    ReplyDelete
  37. Well we're just on our way out, so that's certainly helped lift my appetite.
    Cheers

  38. The smell of coffee reminds me of my dear, departed uhGrandma Della. I love you, Grandma!

  40. This string of comments was highly entertaining and highly educational.

This will date me, but this was the coffee sub of choice in my neighborhood. It's nasty though. You have to doctor it with lots of sugar and stuff.

    Good luck.

  41. postum looks promising although I think malto dextrine does things to mu digestive system.yikes!

I drank a hot chocolate last night, delicious and satisfying but does cocoa have caffeine?

    ReplyDelete
  42. Yes, chocolate does.

According to Wiki, A 1.5oz Milk Chocolate Hershy bar has about 2x the amound of caffeine as decaf coffee (equivalent to 1/10 of a shot of espresso), whilst a dark chocolate bar has 3 times that amount.

It doesn't mention chocolate drinks, but you'd imagine it wouldn't be a lot...

    ReplyDelete
  43. I just bought a hot chocolate that said 99.9% caffeine free so I think it's probably safe

    ReplyDelete
  44. Wow! Look at all the support you're getting! Sort of... ;op

I didn't have my coffee until 10-ish this morning and I beginning to get the shakes, I don't know how you do it!

    ReplyDelete
  45. You can do it Jean Knee. In a few days it'll seem like nothing but a dream.

    ReplyDelete
  46. jean knee, I'm glad you're over your addiction. Really I am.
I bought a new creamer for my coffee, it's Hazelnut and not only makes it smell like heaven but the taste is a yummy nutty flavor. Exquisite.

    ReplyDelete
  47. You can use the flavored creamers in hot chocolate. But it you want to be wicked like me you can just use straight cream, too.

    Mmmmmm.
